A recent survey found that two-thirds of Canadians did not realize that Canada’s Head of State is Queen Elizabeth. Many of those who did know are unhappy about this arrangement and decry what they see as an unwelcome historical link tying us to Britain when we should be asserting our independence. A quick lesson on this part of our system of government seems in order.
