- There isn’t any real evidence of climate change.
- Even if there is climate change, it’s a natural evolution, not man-made.
- Even if it is man-made, Canada’s population is so small that we can’t do much.
- Even if we should do our part, there aren’t any obvious actions to take.
- Even if we introduced a carbon tax, it would destroy the economy.
- Even if it wouldn’t destroy the economy, it is a massive tax grab.
- Even if federal rebates mean that it isn’t a tax grab, it’s an unconstitutional federal invasion of provincial jurisdiction.
- Even if the courts rule that it isn’t unconstitutional, attacking the carbon tax is popular with many of our supporters.
The extensive flooding in many parts of Canada has left a number of Conservative political leaders frantically treading water – with increasing difficulty. It was hard to make out their words as they paddled, gulped for air, and submerged periodically, but the comments appeared to be as follows:
